Alejandro Aviles

Assoc Director, Network Engagement

Alejandro is the Associate Director of Network Engagement working in the Office of the President. He works to mobilize HIP’s familia as we innovate to strengthen Latino leadership, influence and equity by leveraging philanthropic resources across the Americas. His career in organizing, civic engagement, grant making, and public service began nearly two decades ago. After serving in state and local government, he moved to D.C. to work in the Obama Administration and served as senior advisor for two Cabinet Secretaries. Under the Trump Administration, he worked on intersectional community building in the LGBTQ movement and political empowerment at the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization.

Alejandro is extremely proud to call himself a HIP member as he is a trustee of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. In his spare time, he pursues his passions for filmmaking, creating art, biking, and helping institutions make progress on equity. He lives in Washington D.C. with his husband and his dog, Doña Boo Radley.
